Welcome to
Akaigawa Tomo
A vision of tomorrow

A flourishing
landscape
Traditional Japanese culture has always expressed sustainability through design; it emphasises simplicity, a close link between people and nature, and a strong respect for the natural environment. Even in modern, urbanised Japan these cultural attitudes remain, thanks to an increasing interest among the young generation in healthy eating, organic farming and community-based living.
However, many young Japanese lack an opportunity to live in a green and collective environment. As jobs are typically found in cities, many young people are forced to move out of the countryside, and forgo a wholesome way of living, farming and agriculture.
The Akaigawa Tomo SymbioResort presents an opportunity for modern city dwellers to return to their roots. By settling down in the beautiful Akaigawa region, residents can enjoy a tranquil lifestyle, in a boundless natural environment, in sync with the seasons and the land.

A thriving
community
Fundamental infrastructural design for the Akaigawa Tomo SymbioResort will focus on environmental sustainability. To improve power generation and reduced energy consumption, the resort will utilise wind turbines, solar collectors and natural lighting design, as well as advanced building materials and strategic landscaping.
The region’s tradition of organic, locally-grown food will be re ected in a strong gastronomic culture that includes culinary academies. To encourage organic agriculture, the recycling and composting centre will convert waste to garden fertiliser.
A comprehensive list of facilities will support a vibrant community, such as a wide range of options for accommodation, an internal transport network, and medical and health facilities. Extensive infrastructure will be built for sports and recreation, arts and entertainment, and commercial and retail.
Learning and research facilities abound, culminating in a Centre of Excellence for Sustainability.
